Rectifying structural issues in unique, open plan spaces requires a careful and creative engineering touch. For this residential project, we successfully designed and executed a structural remedial fix to reinforce the existing exposed timber ceiling framing.

Rather than using standard, bulky steel brackets that would disrupt the architectural beauty of the room, we engineered a custom solution utilising concealed steel angles. These heavy-duty steel components were sandwiched between the existing and new joists, and were completely hidden from view.

By keeping the steel components entirely internal, the remedial work integrates into the existing framework without altering the room’s original aesthetic. This engineered approach resolves the structural requirements and ensures full compliance, while keeping all modern hardware completely out of site, similar to the original visual intent.
