Matt Byatt
Director | EUR ING CEng FIStructE
Movie buff, husband, father, and keen walker
Matt is one of the founding directors of Subteno as well as being an energetic and highly motivated Chartered Structural Engineer.
His experience is vast, with previous experience working within both consulting engineering practices and as a steelwork contractor.
He has a broad, well-rounded, and practical knowledge base to draw from. Key specialities include detailed structural steelwork design across numerous sectors throughout UK construction and within offshore energy.
Responsibilities at Subteno cover overseeing the technical running of the Norwich main office by providing support to our engineers involved in a wide variety of projects.
Outside of the office, Matt enjoys spending time with his family and the great outdoors.
He is also actively involved with the Institution of Structural Engineers, where he served as the 102nd President, globally, in 2023.

Andrew Dye
Director
Family man and IPA aficionado.
Andrew is one of the founding directors of Subteno as well as being a highly experienced engineering consultant within pre-planning, due diligence and infrastructure design across the UK.
His experience spans over thirty years’ within the construction industry with key specialisms in the retail, residential and commercial sectors. Andrew has a keen interest in progressive technologies and the efficiencies it can bring to the industry.
Andrew’s responsibilities at Subteno cover overseeing both the technical and commercial elements of our projects.
Outside of the office, Andrew thoroughly enjoys a good IPA following a round of golf.

Nigel Austin
Associate | MBA CEng MIStructE MAPM
All round top bloke.
Joining in the summer of 2024 Nigel has quite a distinguished career both in the UK and overseas. His vast experience in structural engineering and project management allow client vision to be managed and end results delivered.
Nigel is a family man, enjoying outdoor pursuits in his spare time. He also holds a HGV licence and can often be spotted behind the wheel of an articulated lorry on the A14!.

Nathan Rowe
Principal Civil Engineer | BSc(Hons) IEng MICE
Motorcyclist, Dog Lover, Computer Zealot.
Nathan has been at Subteno since November 2019 and is our Principal Civil Engineer. Having joined the industry straight out of college, his experience is broad with past employment including a steel fabricator, utilities contractor and engineering consultancy.
Subteno supported Nathan through his Membership Professional Review with the Institution of Civil Engineers to gain Incorporated status. Responsibilities at Subteno include undertaking, coordinating and overseeing the output of our civil engineering, drainage and external works packages.
Outside of the office, Nathan enjoys rides out on his motorbike, long dog walks with his pet rottweiler and regular exercise to keep the pounds off.

Tudor Muresanu
Principal Structural Engineer | BEng (Hons)
All-around great guy.
Tudor has been with Subteno since February 2020 and is one of our Principal Structural Engineers.
Having worked for a local authority during his studies before graduating and later becoming a civil engineer for an engineering consultancy, Tudor is able to draw from a wide array of past experiences.
He is currently working towards his chartership with the Institution of Structural Engineers, under guidance of the more senior members of the team.
Tudor’s responsibilities at Subteno include structural design in all major materials, with a key focus on steel and steel detailing for industrial applications, both for onshore and offshore applications.
Outside of the office, Tudor enjoys rowing, photography and mechanical watches.

Tim Noller
BIM Manager
Mastermind Specialist Subject: The Locale of Norwich.
Tim is our resident BIM Manager heading up the team in Norwich - as well as being a highly conversant draftsperson himself with experience of infrastructure design across the UK and Europe.
Tim's main responsibility at Subteno is to manage and direct our BIM technicians and oversee our projects to ensure the quality is maintained throughout all our 2D and 3D design deliverables.
His experience spans over thirty-five years' within the construction industry with key specialisms in the retail, residential and commercial sectors. Tim has a keen interest in 3D modelling techniques (such as Revit) and the efficiencies that cross-discipline information sharing can bring to projects.
Outside of the office, Tim enjoys the thriving music scene in Norwich as well as entertaining with Friends and Family.

Zhiping Xue
Senior Structural Engineer | CEng MIStructE MEng (Hons)
Mother, Wife of an Eccentric Collector, Traveller.
Zhiping has been at Subteno since July 2020 and is a Senior Structural Engineer as well as being a Chartered Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers.
Her experience is vast with previous experience working within consulting engineering practices, she has a broad and well-rounded knowledge base to draw from. Key specialties include structural steelwork design and details, load bearing masonry and temporary works design.
Responsibilities at Subteno include undertaking, coordinating, and overseeing a wide range of projects, working closely with clients and other consultants to ensure deliverables meet project requirements safely and on time with a strong emphasis towards sustainable practices.
Outside of the office, Zhiping enjoys traveling to new and different places.

Irena Chirova
Structural Engineer | BEng (Hons)
Mum, Traveller and Social Butterfly
Irena joined Subteno in March 2022 and is our structural engineer and she is currently working towards her chartership with the Institution of Structural Engineers, under the guidance of the more senior members of the team.
Irena developed an early interest in structural design and engineering and obtained her bachelor’s degree from University in Sofia.
Outside of engineering, she participated in activities such as ice skating and book club.
Responsibilities at Subteno include working under the supervision of senior engineers and getting great exposure to new and exciting projects, learning techniques and methods, and learning how to design various structural schemes.
Outside of the office, Irena enjoys travelling to new and exotic destinations and is looking forward to obtaining her chartership in the future.

Aleksandra Dabanova
Civil Engineer | MICE MEng (Hons)
Dreamer and Book Lover.
Aleksandra joined Subteno in July 2022 and is a Civil Engineer.
She graduated from the University of Architecture, Civil and Geodesy in Bulgaria with a Master’s degree and gained experience as a designer of reinforced concrete structures (modelling in 3D and producing drawings in 2D) on numerous projects throughout Europe.
Her responsibilities at Subteno include the preparation, presentation, and production of drainage design and drawings under the direction of senior engineers. She is developing her knowledge in drainage design and looks forward to building additional skills related to civil engineering, while working in parallel toward her chartership with the Institution of Civil Engineers.
Outside of the office, Aleks enjoys baking sweet treats, getting lost in a good book, nature walks, and good music. She is always on the lookout for new hobbies which complement her strengths and turns them into special skills.

Reece Elvin
Trainee Structural Engineer
Festival Goer and Music Enthusiast.
Reece Elvin is a Trainee Structural Engineer at Subteno, joining the company in August 2023. He is currently pursuing a Civil Engineering degree through an apprenticeship at the University of Suffolk. With his background as a structural technician in the residential and commercial sectors, Reece brings valuable experience and technical knowledge to his role.
Having completed his BTEC apprenticeship and achieved EngTech status, Reece is dedicated to further developing his skills in the industry and working towards becoming an Incorporated Engineer as part of his current apprenticeship. His growing knowledge in structural analysis and design, coupled with his existing experience in AutoCAD and Revit, allows him to contribute to the successful delivery of various projects.
Outside of work Reece enjoys attending music events and spending an afternoon exploring the vibrant pub scene in Norwich.

Adam Yates
BIM Technician
Avid pursuer of technical knowledge, problem-solver, sci-fi enthusiast and gamer.
Adam’s experience is in architecture and design sectors, studying 3D Design at College and Architecture at University. His time in the industry has built up a solid knowledge of digital modelling skills particularly in AutoCAD and Revit, which are now being put to good use at Subteno.
Outside of work, Adam looks for ways to grow his knowledge, enjoying keeping up to date with the latest in the tech sector, tinkering with electrical components and software, acting as tech support for friends and family and gaming. He also enjoys the occasional visit to his local pub.

Jamie Lewis
Trainee CAD Technician
Semi-Amateur Snowboarder.
Jamie joined Subteno in December 2023 and is our trainee CAD technician.
Jamie has previously worked within the mechanical industry supporting the design of Marine Breakaway Couplings.
Working alongside the engineering team to redesign and optimise existing products to make them more efficient and durable.
The ability to bring designs to life and see the project go through the full cycle, in addition to working with specialised software allows Jamie to combine both his creative side and problem solving skills.
Outside of the office Jamie enjoys watching different sports but mainly football and discovering new music.

Jocelyn Gregory
Administrator
Travelling Dog Whisperer.
Jocelyn joined Subteno in January 2024 as our business administration guru and has over eighteen years’ experience in the industry.
Responsibilities at Subteno include Quality Management, Health & Safety, Finance plus an array of back office tasks that assist the team in the day to day running of the business.
Outside of work Jocelyn enjoys travelling, cooking and walking with her dog … but not all at once.
